SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS AND REPORTS
Assessment of the Uganda-Kenya Coast Tourism Conference
The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) in collaboration with the Tourism Research and Development Centre (TRDC) conducted an evaluation of the conference based on the views and opinions of the delegates that attended from Uganda. Out of the over 150 delegates that attended, 50 of them responded to an online survey questionnaire that was circulated from 25th November to 31st December 2023. The delegates were asked to rate the organisation and management of the conference, assess the usefulness of the information received, state the extent to which their expectations were met, assess their future engagement and willingness to recommend others to participate in future conferences or visit the Kenyan coast.
Rwenzori Marathon Research Project
In partnership with Equator Hikes (organisers of the 2023 Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon), TRDC conducted the study to understand the impact of the marathon in Kasese and Rwenzori Region in general.
This was a pioneer project given that very limited research had hitherto been conducted to understand the impact marathons have on the socioeconomic development of host towns and the surrounding areas. As an outcome this research project has provided insights that have guided subsequent marathon planning, and resource allocation.
It has further guided planners and local leaders on how to enhance community involvement and wellbeing and how to support socioeconomic development of the region. (NB: Provide have link to the report)
Tourism Trends and Outlook Report Project - 2024
This was undertaken in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) to map and project the performance of the sector in 2024. The report was able to inform and guide stakeholder engagement, business environment gaps, skills development requirements, governance and required sector quality standards and regulations.
